Movie poster for documentary 'Nelson Carrilho - I am a black sculptor'. The documentary is a cinematic search for the imagination and inspiration of the Amsterdam artist Nelson Carrilho, who expresses his African descent with his bronze sculptures. In this time of polarization, Carrilho feels the pain of the colonial past and transforms it into monuments that connect society. Filmmaker Robin van Erven Dorens travels with Carrilho to his homeland in Curaçao, to southern Italy, where he wants to create a monument for refugees and films him at work in his studio in Amsterdam.
